Diana has loved creating art since childhood. While living in Japan, her third-grade art teacher encouraged her to observe subjects closely and taught her that there was no single right or wrong way to make art.

Through the years, Diana has explored transparent watercolor, acrylic paint, pastels, colored pencils, alcohol inks, textiles, weaving, art papers, and collage. She also worked as a paraeducator with students with special needs, where she created a weekly art program that encouraged experimentation and creative expression.

Diana is especially drawn to the way artwork can evoke emotion and thought. Light is also an important part of how she sees a subject and the feeling she hopes to capture in her work.

She has had the opportunity to create original artwork for authors’ submissions featured in the Santa Barbara Literary Journal. Her process included reading each writer’s work, often several times, and creating a unique piece inspired by the story.
